Goals

When I was sleeved, I was constantly setting goals for myself...  "I want to weigh XXX lbs by XXXX date"...  It never failed...  I always fell short of meeting those goals and this was so discouraging.  Since being switched, I've stayed away from setting those kind of goals.  Right now my only goal is to lose at least 2 lbs a week.  That's all I'm shooting for.  Anything more is lagniappe in my book.

The only # specific goal I set for myself is that I would really like to start the new year off below 300 lbs.  Yesterday I was 301...  Oh so close...  Here it is new years eve...  This morning I got up and did my normal bathroom routine and I got on the scale.....  299!!!

I was so excited I wanted to cry!  That's 54 lbs in 13.5 weeks.  And a whopping total of 126 lbs lost from my all time highest weight.

I'm including a picture.  The first was at my highest of 425 and it was my first OH avatar.  The second is my most current.

Awesome! You look beautiful - before and after. Are you tracking food? Or only protein and carbs?

Thank you!

Not really tracking food too much.  I eat only protein and limit carbs.  Carbs are limited to those in vegetables or beans (refried mostly or red beans in chili).  I avoid potatoes and corn and any other high carb veggies.  Limit fruit...  the occasional apple with PB.  I sometimes crave bread and crackers...  if I do have anything like that it has to be gluten free.  Although I haven't had any bread yet.  I get some bagel chips that are gluten free and smear cream cheese and butter on it... might do that once a week if I have the craving.

I'm loving I can actually have things containing fat.  Sausage, cheese, mayo, butter, cream cheese....  These were all things I had to avoid when I was sleeved.  Now they are staples of my diet.  Makes it easier to stay on track.

Congrats on getting to the 200's.

But you said:

And what happens when you slow down or stall...and they do and WILL happen. Some weeks, even a month, I would actually gain a lb before losing more...and I had one stall that lasted 7 months. Please do not set goals like that that may not be kept as you get further out. You WILL get the weight off...just don't beat yourself up any time you don't meet that *2 lbs a week* you've set up for yourself.

Since I'm still early out, I'm hoping to keep up some momentum for a while.  With the sleeve, things started slowing down at about 1 year.  I feel like I kinda know what to expect and how my body reacts.  I definitely know to expect stalls and fluctuations.  I don't feel like 2 lbs a week is unrealistic...  especially considering that I'm still a heavyweight.   When I stall or slow down...  I just have to reassess things.  Right now, I'm only taking things one week at a time...  This week my goal is to lose at least 2 lbs.  So far this week I've lost 4 and my official weigh days are on Thursdays...  =)

With my sleeve, I know where I went wrong...  Lots of different places I went wrong.  But I do have a good counselor that I didn't have before.  I'm hoping this will keep me grounded enough to not start beating myself up when I do stall or when the weight loss slows down.

I feel much more prepared now than I did then.

I love the pictures!  You look younger in the skinny pic.  Stay with the program and don't give up.  Just remember to change it up every now and then and do something different.
