Bloodwork?
Without insurance, I am trying to find the cheapest way to get my bloodwork done without paying an arm and a leg. My local LabCorp will do any test I need without docs orders, but I want to make sure I am getting the right things done. Here is the list I have from my surgeons office:
1. Cardiovascular Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides, LDL, VLDL, HDL
2. Comprehensive Metabolic: Albumin, Alkaline Phosphatase, Total Bilirubin, BUN, Carbon Dioxide (Bicarbonate), Calcium,
Chloride, Creatinine, Glucose, Magnesium, Phosphorous, PTH (Intact), SGOT (AST), SGPT (ALT), Sodium, Total Protein, TSH
3. Specialty Chemistry: Folate (serum/RBC), Selenium, Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D (25-OH), Zinc
4. Hematology CBC, Platelet count, Prothrombin time, INR, PTT, Iron, Total Iron Binding Capacity, Ferritin, Transferrin
Is there anything else you suggest, or think is unnecessary? I think the total for all this is about $400, so I hate to get anything done that isn't necessary, but also want to cover my bases! Also, how often do you have this checked? I've heard every 3 months for the first year, then twice a year. Thanks for the input!
i swear i posted this earlier but i don't see that it posted.... so if this is twice i am sorry lol
