Hello everyone,

I got an email this morning from OH wishing me a happy surgiversary, and I figured I'd stop by to say hello.  Yesterday marks 6 years since I had my DS with Dr. Marchesini.  I, unfortunately, developed a leak and abcess which caused me numerous problems for almost two years before it resolved under the watch of Dr. Gagner.

But it has now been over four years since then, and I'm happy to report that I have maintained about 140 pounds lost without much effort.  I never made it to goal, and I'm still around a 32 bmi, but compared to the 56 bmi I started at, I am quite a bit smaller.  I wear about a size 18-20 (started at 34+ or 5x).  I eat a lot of protein and I do eat some carbs without issue (except pasta...ugh).  I climb flights of stairs. I walk a lot. I bought season passes to Disney World and go about twice a month without my feet feeling like they're going to die.  Life is good.

I know I'm not around much, but for a while I was resident Complication Queen, and I'm always willing to answer any questions about leaks or stents.

Courage does not always roar.  Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."

Hi Stacie, I appreciate your sharing, I too have lost around 120-130 lbs, it does fluctuate all the time, I am having such a hard time trying to decide if I should try to lose more or stay where I am and be happy. I had my surgery 8 years ago and had complications but they were resolved in the first year. Have you tried to lose more weight or are you happy with where your at? I can eat anything overall including pasta. Do you track your labs and are you exercising? just curious. Again thanks for sharing.

Hi Stacie,

Congrats on your surgiversary.  I never made a normal BMI and finally had my bounce back, but am holding between 147-150 - Normal BMI is 132... It is what it is.  I'm healthy and no more diabetes, normal BP and cholesterol.

I'll be in Orlando the end of June through the 6th of July.  Dr Sauceda will be doing PS consults on the 28th and 29th of June.  After that, I'll have play time for attractions and sight-seeing.  Maybe we can get together for lunch or dinner.
