from pre-op to post op how long was your journey?
Today I met with Dr. Bonanni for the first time. I had many tests done. I started my journey at the end of Oct. with the info session. I only have the endoscopy before they put in my insurance letter to see if it gets approved. I have 3 kids so I guess I am trying to find out when I need to start sucking up to my in laws and own family abou****ching them while I am in the hospital. I have independence blue cross personal choice as health insurance if that makes a difference as to how long it takes to get an approval. Plus I would like to kind of have a range of when to hope to have the surgery. thanks!
Hi:) I first met my doctor in August, had to see a nutritionist for 3 month (4 visits) a cardiologist, pulmonary doctor and a psychologist evaluation, my paper work would have been into my doctors office to be sent to the insurance co except the pulmonary dr. wanted me to have a sleep study before he would sign off which he did on this past Monday. I am hoping the doctors office received the report and has sent out my file to my insurance either this week or Monday of next week, and then it should per the insurance co take 3-5 days to get the approval, and then I will get my date. Good luck with your journey. :)

I am having my DS done by Dr.Bonnani as well. I'm scheduled for Feb. 13th. My wife is also having hers Jan. 16th. Once we had our info sent to the insurance co. ( same as yours) we got a letter of approval within a week and were scheduled. Good luck and maybe we will run into each other at the office.

I started the process in May of 2011, my surgery is monday. So more than 1.5 years. I could have been scheduled after about a year, but my own schedule wouldn't allow it.
My insurance required a 6 month diet, and then I had to go through an appeals process after being denied. Then I had a TON of pre-op things to do with my surgeon's office.
Getting through the insurance hoops, and any pre-op diets are the biggest hurdle. After that, it's just going through the surgeon's steps. And each surgeon is different as far as that goes. Good luck.
