You will eventually become a thin and healthy DSer because you are asking questions and learning. Congratulations and hope the paperwork goes through without a hitch.
If you do the Flintstone reimen, you will have deficiencies all over the place, and very severe ones, at that. I didn't know that dietitians and doctors were still counseling patients this way.
Go to Vitalady's site and look up the list for DS or deficiencies, to see what you really need. I am posting my regimen just as an example of what you might need, sort of a jumping off point. Everybody's different, and this is just what works for me. I use Vitalady and several other sources where I can get what is recommended a bit less costly than ordering the whole package from her.

I honestly can't believe there is a medical professional out there still passing out the Flintstones. Seriously, for a DSer, this is malpractice. I can understand benevolent ignorance and we see this all the time. This person has no business counseling others about nutrition.
I hope you question and verify every single thing this person tells you. If she told me the sky was blue, I would go outside and see for myself.
She told me to stay away from fats, even though I have seen everybody here has said we can eat it because we only absorb about 20%. She also told me to use calcium w/vit d-taking 2 a day. She gave me various meal ideas I didn't use any of them because they weren't anything I would eat but she did turn me onto Greek yoguart (100 cal) and it was yummy. I haven't spoken to my doctor yet about vitamins when I see him I will make sure that is one of the questions I ask..
Just keep in mind that surgeons aren't taught anything in medical school about over the counter vitamins and preventive care. We DSrs are on the cutting edge of this stuff and it's great when you have a medical group that will support you rather than keep advising old school bad info.

Please keep this in mind about calcium..... Use calcium CITRATE ~ not carbonate. Citrate is what you need!!! It is amazing to me about how many calcium products are almost always carbonate. Like throwing your money away when you buy it!!! I mistakenly bout a bottle about 2 years ago, and ended up giving it to my sister in law because it was carbonate, NOT citrate.
Keep asking questions!!!!

Most of us require huge amounts of dry D3 - enough to make the average bear go toxic. Fat is absolutely essential for us. Without it our skin goes dry and we wind up constipated (not to mention brain function).
