Hello all,

I want to re introduce myself. I done the VSG in 2009 but did not lose all the weight so I will be doing a revision to the DS in January. I am scared and excited at the same time. Please I would be asking a lot of questions and would really need your help to get it straight this time around. My starting weight is 260 and I would want to get down to 160. I understand that the revision weight loss is very slow but I know that I am very determined to get there.

Thank you all in advance for all your help in answering my questions.

Understand your excitement!  You are now going to have a real chance to get your weight off and a great chance of keeping it off long term.  Congratulations on moving forward with taking control of your health.

The DS is your best bet to combat Metabolic Syndrome.  Being a little scared is OK, Losing weight and  being healthy is worth a little fright. Good luck.

I revised to the DS 8 weeks ago after being sleeved for 5 years.  I understand your trepidation.

I started off heavier (353 at pre-op appt), but I've lost 43 lbs since I started my 2 week pre-op liquid diet (43 lbs in 10 weeks).

Good luck to you!!!

Thank you, How are you doing so far ? I always read your profile and I was one of your well wishes. Was your surgery pain full ? what is the duration of your revision surgery?

Thanks again for the well wishes.  =)

The pain wasn't too bad.  Felt like I did after I was sleeved.  I sat up as soon as I could.  Walked as soon as I could stay awake for longer than 10 minutes.  I was in the hospital for 2 nights.  Surgery took about 5 hours.  I think I have a high pain tolerance though...  I took the pain meds while I was in the hospital, but really only took the pain meds at night before bed.  Did that for about a week after surgery.  Finally started feeling normal again around week 3.

WOW !  5 hours surgery time is very long. I thought with the sleeve you are half way through, so surgery shouldn't"t take as much

That's what I thought too...  but it took my other surgeon 45 minutes to do the sleeve, so I'm guessing that's the easy part.  lol!
