questions I just thought of.
2nd time trying to post this :).
Just some questions I thought of.
1-did you have problems with stairs? I have 3 to get into my house and then a flight between 1st and 2nd floor.
2-how long after the surgery did they have you up and walking, I remember with my c-section 6 hrs and I was out of bed.
3-Did they use a catheter? hate them.
4-can we have ice chips or something like that?
5-if you had an open surgery how big was the cut? and also did they use extra gauze so elastic on under ware or pants didn't bother it?
6-I heard about drains how long were they kept in and are they taken out before you leave the hospital?
Thanks for all the help, I am looking at either a Jan date (hoping and keeping fingers crossed) but probably Feb surgery date. My daughter wants to have a party for me when I come home I can have all the drinks I want she will eat the cake :) Between her and my hubby and a few select friends I have the best support group!!!!!

I answered the others on the other post, so I'll address the last two here:
4 - yes on the ice chips
5 - Yes, I had open surgery, and the cut went from my bra down to curve around my navel like a "J". It was glued all the way down, no sutures or staples. I wore a binder underneath my pants so it was a comfortable as I could be.
6 - I kept my drains for 2 weeks, and they doubled as feeding tubes if I needed them (mine was a "J-tube"). They removed it in the office.
Here's an article I wrote on DSFacts.com that might help your questions:

Hey, just had my surgery less than two weeks ago, thought I'd share my experience. They had me walking as soon as I was coherent, so a few hours after getting into my room. As far as the ice chips, I'm not even going to sugarcoat it, I wasn't allowed to have ANYTHING, not even ice chips, for two whole days, as a precautionary measure. You're fully hydrated because of the IV, but the need to sip on anything was excruciating. And when I finally got to drink something, I immediately threw it up. Tried 3 different things over the course of two days, only water stayed down until I got home. They totally used a catheter on me, but it's out by the time you get to your room, barring complications. I didn't have any drains, but my whole surgery was laproscopic, so I was lucky there. Hope this helps!
