Way too much harshness here...Sometimes
If you've got it in your mind that any dreams of being a raw vegan (or any variation of a true vegan) are no longer a possibility, I've done my job. Toughen up, Jaiart. I was protecting you from harming yourself, and sorry if I got a little scary, but one day you're going to have to know enough when to be assertive yourownself, for the sake of your own health, and you'd better understand what and why when an unknowing medical professional scoffs at the amounts of D you're taking, for example.

I have not seen any nasty messages recently. I had my DS on 2/14/12 and I am considered a light lite wt not sure which is the correct spelling. Any way back then there were 2 nasty individuals and a group that followed them but since they have been kicked off. They even made another site however obviously not in any way near the quality of this site. I think one was near my wt with my failed lap band and if I was needing surgery that meant they had to accept they were not at goal. In my mind this was the reason for their extreme nastiness however that is my story I can not back it up. I simply avoided them, I was invited to the site they set up only to trash me obviously I avoid it and I can happily say I am doing very well without them. I am sorry if you are going through any negativity. I find this site to be welcoming. Major Mom has always been a good source of info and she never is rude that might be someone you could ask questions. Facebook has a newbie ds group which is awesome as they are going through the same things I was at the time I was. It not as organized as this site but worth joining. Again please do return to this site. I simply ignored any thing that was not helpful and I am doing fine at 154. I have stalled for a while and with this site I traded out the milk I was convinced I had to have to heavy cream and I am going down again. Especially the first 6 months you are so picky and the taste buds change so much it nice to have this site. I did use the surgeon they suggested as I was going out of the USA.
Hang in there

When someone posts potentially harmful advice, a swift and strong reaction is merited. If you see a toddler entering a heavily traveled street, do you say something to her like, "It's OK if you are careful." Or do you swoop in and pull her back? What do you do if you see someone else endangering that toddler? I'd rather be told in no uncertain terms if I was attempting to do something like a vegan diet how stupid and dangerous an idea that is. Sure I may get my widdle feelings hurt immediately. Yet that is so much better than dieing of malnutrition.
Additionally, it is particulary annoying when someone who has a different surgery tries to tell someone else how to live with it, I would never even think of giving advice to someone who has had an RNY or a lapband.
