Tips and best practices for first days post op
Hello, I have a friend who will be having DS on Dec 3rd in NYC. She called me today to ask what she should have ready at home for when she is released from the hospital? It's been a few years since my surgery so I cannot remember all of the tips and things I wish I had done to make my first week or two more comfortable. Do you guys have any suggestions? Also, it's important to know that she has no family in NY, so she might have to have a cab or car service to pick her up and take her home from the hospital. So, I'm trying to think of what a person doing this alone will need. I hope that one of friends can come to help her until I get there on Dec 7th. Here is the list that I started. Any help would be appreciated.
- Blender and/or food processor
- Eggs
- Campbells chunky soup (I put it my processor to puree it)
- Water
- Something for itchy skin
- Make sure to have Rx called in or check if hospital has pharmacy to fill them before she leaves the hospital
- Ask the hospital give her a dose of pain meds if she has a long ride home
- I used a griddle which helped a little with the pain when moving
