I'm so tired of yogurt, Greek yogurt I don't enjoy at all. Been thinking frozen yogurt may be an alternative. I assume there are some decent froyo's out there to try. Any hints, leads , warnings?

I have had incredibly horrible effects from eating frozen yogurt.   Beware.   I am six years out, had a small dish of it three hours from home this summer, and had to stop about ten or twelve times to use the bathroom on the ride home!   Also, most of it is very high in carb.

My doctor told me not to worry about carbs, just eat protein first so just wondering the difference between yogurt and frozen yogurt. I handle yogurt well so can I assume I will handle froyo well. I mean either homemade or store brand not so fancy froyo shop type...

Frozen Yogurt is really no different than Ice cream.  Full of carbs.  I understand what your Surgeon said.  Remember this, they are just a cutter, they do not live this!  Carbs are not our friends especially early out!  They cause gas, bloating and bathroom issues.  Frozen yogurt would fall into the simple carbs category which means we absorb it at 100%.

I'm not a fan of Greek Yogurt either, the people on here have given me great ideas when I go to the grocery store again (I just go once a week).  Try using splenda in it or stevia.  Sweeten it.

This is my idea, I have not tried it yet.  Sweeten the greek yogurt to taste, then put it in the blender with some cream.  Then freeze it.  That is what I'm going to try!  Top with your choice of berries!

The one thing that my consult with another surgeon rang in my ears.  Garbage in Garbage out.  Even though you've had the DS, do not eat garbage!  Hence, making things myself.

Hope this helps

Yeah I saw the HFCS... If low carb ice cream can be made there must be a way to make decent DS friendly froyo.

I think we have quorum, as I agree, so let it be noted by us to all. Greek yogurt officially is nasty! I still think it will be an important part of my eventual post op diet because my wife suggested something, and though I was at first skeptical, it actually works decently enough.

I use the Fage brand, 8 oz. cups and add a single serving of flavored drink mix (for a 16-20 Oz. water bottle) and mix it up and let it sit in the fridge for 15-20 min. it's creamy, palatable (I didn't say delicious) and works well enough. I use national brands like crystal light but my local store has it's own brands and flavors and so far, pink lemonade, cherry pomegranate, orange, berry and green grape are my favorites.

Have you tried Bariatric Fusion protein drinks? HOLY CRAP they are terrible!

No I didn't like the BA products I tried so I steer clear of them. That yogurt/ drink mix idea sounds good. I will try it.

That is a good idea.  Maybe try sugar free jello cheesecake pudding mix.  Crystal Light is what makes my stomach turn and turn.  If a product has Equal/Aspartame, it does that so I'm steering clear of anything with it.
