You will be thankful you did the liquid diet. It will help you after surgery as well.
For the leg cramps, majormom is correct, I've dealt with these for years, I am struggling with this now. Keeping the Potassium balanced w/Magnesium is key. After surgery, it's been a bit hard to find the correct balance. If you get too off-balanced, then it can create other problems (whether or not you've had the DS)
My little secret to stop them in their tracks, 2 teaspoons of Mustard (nothing else) or Dill Pickle Juice. I used the mustard last night.
Here's something for you to read about it:

Good luck on your surgery!!! Remember, Protein & Hydration then everything else!

For right now, drink Gatorade to stop the muscle cramps. You are going to love your DS. Stick around here for advice from experienced DSers.
RNY to DS 210 lbs gone for 5 years.
Things are going well. I've managed to stop the cramps. I started drinking a little pickle juice in the afternoons and it seems to really help!
I weighed this morning at 409, so I'm down 18 pounds!!!!!! I'm very happy about that. (I checked with my surgeon's office and I was actually 427 at my pre-op appointment)
But I can't wait to be able to eat SOMETHING again. Thanks for checking!!! 2 more days!
