Well it'ss been a long time.

I didn't post much so you might not remember me.  I haven't been here for quite a long time.  It's been a rough year.  Lost my job, lost my house, left my husband, got back together with my husband and moved to Oregon for work.  Now that I'm here and things are settling down I need to get back to DS business.  I need to find a DS doc in Oregon.  I am in the Portland area.  Can someone please give me the name of the DS website?  I can't think of it for the life of me!

I've gained 35lbs over the last year. Pretty sure due to stress and the stupid insulin pump I was put on.  Stopped using that stupid thing.  When I have to shoot myself with a needle every time I stick something in my mouth makes me more accountable.  I have to say I've done a great job managing my blood sugars without the pump but even better yet would be not having diabetes at all.  I am a type 1.5 according to my last endo.  So a DS might not cure me but I do know it would make it significantly better.  I have had two pancreatitis attacks.  Both put me in the hospital for over a week.  First time was Nov. 2011 and the second in Jan. 2012.  I do not wish that pain on anybody!  What was almost worse though was the 3 days of NPO in the hospital followed by nothing but ll quid and then pureed food.  By the time I was allowed to eat I wanted to eat an entire Cow.  Knock on wood I haven't had any issues since. The doctors don't know why they happened as I drink very rarely, no gallstones, and not enough fat in my blood.  One doc said it is possible that I had gravel emptying from my gallbladder to my pancreas but by the time they do the MRI it's gone.  Do you think that will mess me up being able to get a DS?

Anyways enough about me. I hope everyone here is doing well. Healthy and happpy!

Becky

Welcome back, Becky.  I think the closest DS surgeon is in Wash state. There aren't any DS savvy docs in Oregon. I've seen nothing but bad experiences even with follow up care. Michelle or Dina may know of some. Are you on the Facebook DS group or Proboards?

Gina, how do you get to Facebook DS and proboards?  Would a  google search do it or a facebook search for DS?

Just click on the links above. The Facebook requires approval of the admins but Proboards is public.

Glad you came back!

there are no DS surgeons in Oregon at present. You will need to travel to WA state, CA, or even Idaho. Check the list at dsfacts.com

As far as your gall bladder goes, the best test to look for gallstones is ultrasound. Sounds more old fashioned than MRI, but each test has strengths and weaknesses, and gallstones happens to be one of the strengths of ultrasound. Better yet,  just make sure you get it taken out when you have your DS, and the test results won't matter.
