I don't check OH that often anymore and I just saw your request for an angel but I know it's too late as you must be in the hospital right now recovering from surgery. I will still offer to answer any question I can for you or steer you in the right direction to get an answer. I am almost 2 years out & am down 100 pounds. I am a revision from stomach staping. I am originally from MN tho I love in AZ right now. Best wished to you !!!

I was I for four nights/five days but I only got part two done and that was lap.

All the best for a quick recovery.

I was in for a full week, as I have lupus and fibromyalgia, and my surgeon wanted to make sure the trauma of the surgery was not going to set off a  major flare of either.

Make sure you get your fluids in.  It is very important not to get dehydrated early out.

I think they kept me 3 nights- one more than planned as I hadn't passed gas yet. I don't remember much of the first few days either as I was so medicated tho I remember I didn't get any food or drink till day 3 and I hated that. For some reason they wouldnt give me ice chips either. I didn't have any abdominal pain but figured it was because I was lap. One nurse said I had internal pain pumps too.

The first month is crappy but you will get past it and I remember thinking every single day got a little better than the last. We are all different tho so I can't predict much . .

I don't think anyone ever regretted having it done. I am glad it's over for you and I am sorry you've had a rough start.

Andrea,
Just saw this and just wanted to say 'hang in there!'

I was in the hospital 3 nights, but the third night was because the hospital got very screwed up with my discharge.

This is the hardest time, so just be gentle with yourself.  Besides the surgery, this is when the big adjustment period begins.  You will start to feel better soon, but then will need to deal with your head catching up with your new plumbing.  Just be good to yourself.

You are starting on an amazing journey!

Hang in there and keep posting to let us know how you are doing.

Best wishes,
Sharon G.

By the way, I had horrible nausea post op as well.  They ended up giving me steroids to get it under control.  Just try to make sure the nurses keep on top of it.
