Very Exciting News today from my surgeon's office.

Today I went for my psych evaluation. My mental health history doesn't seem to be stopping me from having surgery which is good!! I just need a clearance letter from my current counselor explaining I am stable enough to have surgery and that part will be all done. Anywho on to the really good news! I went to my first nutrion class that I am required to go too and the dietician told me that I can probably have my surgery and should be ready to pay the co-pay to schedule it in January!! That is ONLY THREE MONTHS AWAY. I go for my sleep study on friday and I have to go to a support group then I AM ALL READY FOR SURGERY. Oh my goodness. Three months that is just around the corner I was expecting not to be considering it until AT LEAST April but when I asked the dietician about my weigh ins she asked me when I started and if I weighed in last month or if I was weighed by a doctor. I told her I was weighed in September at my doctor's office and that I thought that I wouldn't be considered as starting my diet until this month and she said well August with us Sept with your PCP and then today with us so you should be good. I also got called outgoing and told I have a positive outlook on things today  by one of the other pre-op patients. So that made up for the crappy morning I had... Oh one last thing I think my dad might finally be getting on board with this whole thing. Yesterday he filled up my car so I could to my appointments and today when I was talking to him about it he didn't say okay okay I got to go, he didn't hang up and even though he didn't really say anything positive when I was telling him about the calories and how much exercise you have to do to burn a 24oz soda he was like yeah or yeah I know which means he was LISTENING and that is a start. At least he has stopped saying it is a bad idea and has actually began to HEAR me which is better than not supporting me at all. I think I am finally starting to show him I really am growing up and he doesn't have to worry as much about me not succeding or something bad happening. Just wanted to share my excitement with the rest of the OH vets, post-op newbies and pre-ops. Oh and for everyone who wishes their surgery would hurry and get here. I wanted that too I wanted to wave my six month diet and just get it over with because I didnt think I could wait 6 month. Luckily I have lost 3 lbs since my last visit and I am now only 3 months away. And if ANYONE is telling you you shouldn't do it don't listen to them I almost let my dad discourage me from doing this because he is my dad of course I thought he knew everything and he knows what is best for me after all  he raised me... I realized last week that he thinks he knows what is best for me but by telling me not to do this and by choosing to let myself  listen I am not doing what is best for me or my family. I shouldn't be worried about all the health problems I have and not be able to live a healthy heath because my dad said surgery was a bad idea, he shouldn't be worried about having to bury his 20 year old daughter if she dies unexpectedly from weight related issues, and  I shouldn't worry about having nobody there to support me and encourage me to do everything I can to get this weight off even if it includes life altering surgery. Lastly anyone worried about health insurance covering their WLS. DO NOT worry about that too much. When I decided I needed to have WLS. I didn't have health insurance.. at all. I was told I couldn't receive tenncare anymore because of my age. I was trying to figure out how I was going too or if I could even pay for this... It did take losing nearly everything and everyone I had but I finally got health insurance after not having it for almost a year (dad tried to discourage me that way too by asking "how are you gonna pay for this? He was suprised when  I said insurance covered it lol) Anyway like i said just wanted to share my excitement with everyone. MUCH LOVE OH people!!

I'm so glad things have come together for you and you're starting to get support from your dad too. Rock on!

That's great, so glad everything is going good for you. Sometimes it just takes people a little more time to see the good that will come from the surgery. I had my 2nd appt with the neutritionist and found out some how I lost 10lbs and she was really happy. I am also looking to have the surgery in Jan. Keeping fingers crossed for you that everything else go smoothly.
