Help, while I rough it!
I am heading out on the 17th to go hunting for a solid week and a half for my elk. I will be pitching a tent with my father in the middle of the wilderness for several days. I also will be hiking and covering a lot of land. I just hope my body can keep up with my avid outdoorsman father, yikes! That man can put me into the dirt! It will also be my first period of time away from all communication and civilization. I am trying to prepare myself because now that I have the DS I have to plan ahead. It should be interesting…I wonder if I will lose weight or gain on this trip. It will be interesting to see what my body will do and how it will handle it. Wish me luck! I would love some helpful hints on some food suggestions.
Here is what I plan on taking so far:
Breakfast
Protein coffee, eggs, links
Lunch
Sandwich loaded with meat, chz, mayo and butter on gluten free bread
Dinner
Venison smokies and protein coffee
Snacks
Protein bars
Jerky
Fluids and vits as well.
With this plan it should keep be well below 100 carbs and get me up to 150 protein a day. Any suggestions would be very helpful? Btw I won’t have access to a fire for lunch, just for breakfast and dinner. I need to pack light for snacks and lunch because I am hiking with it all on my back. Breakfast and dinner will be at the tent so canned goods can be used…hmmm which makes me think of tuna… and mayo…. Yummy
Also bringing my toilet paper and wet naps for my DS poo’s out in the woodsJ
PLEASE! Any helpful hints on anything food, poo or managing the DS in general in the woods would be super helpful!
In my world, I'll be in a hotel room with hubby in a few weeks for our son's graduation from boot camp. That has me rattled enough, for I usually get up way early, closing both doors, turning on a fan all while he's asleep. I'm afraid this is too close of quarters even for that lovely man. As for the woods, there ain't a hole big enough for me to make a deposit -- OMG!!!!
And -- where in the hell is the bacon? You can't cook on an open fire without bacon.
Just sayin....

There is room on this earth for all of God's creatures..
next to the mashed potatoes
btw i will for sure bring some bacon:) it will rotate with my sausage links
yea i do fear that i will drop a pile out there and no animals will come even close...i might scare off my elk! lol
i usually have a good poo in the morning hours then i am good the rest of the day. my poo is solid and just stinks like poo. so it should be to bad...i mean like the saying says about a bear ****ting in the woods, should apply to me hopefully:) i figure with TP and wet naps i will wipe and be done over a broken down tree or stump or something. i will have to let you know if it turns out tragic or not hahaha

Do not forget probiotics & your vitamins!
I have never even gone camping! My idea of camping is a 5 star hotel. Other than that ~ I have no other suggestions. I was planning a trip in January, worried about the 3 hr plane ride and going to the toilet on the plane (I hope it's not a bad poo day that day). LOL!
Wishing you all the best... Hope you get your Elk!
i was born and raised a true montana girl so this isn't new, just new to me as a DSer. it is strange having to plan so much. i would normaly just grab some tp, my gun, my camo, my boots, some canned food and go.
good suggestion on probiotics. i don't want to limit the fat completely because i would hate to be constipated.... ouchy
also a 3hr plan ride you should be fine. just take some air freshners with ya, bath and body works cover up nicely. if you know you have been pooing more stinky lately, then i would use ozium to cover it up.
