How much have you lost with your DS? Vets how long have you kept it off?

7 years out this July.  Lost from a high of 272 surgery day to a low of 125 which was way too low - I'm 5'7".  Now sitting around 140ish although I've probably put on a few over the past few months.

Depends on how tall you are and some other factors. I shot for a BMI of "normal," which is about 25.

I had the DS more than 4.5 years ago. I was 5'6" and 344 pounds. My BMI was 55.5. I wore a 30-32 in pants. I was 37 years old.

Today, I weigh about 155-160 pounds. I wear a size 8, 10 or 12 in pants, depending on maker. My BMI is about 24-26. Fine by me.

At one point I got too low--my face and collar bones were pointy and I looked exhausted. I was at 143 pounds. You'd be surprised at how different 10 pounds can make you look (good and bad).

Good luck to you!

Six plus years out.    I am 5'4".   My highest weight was 282.   I weighed 255 the morning of surgery.   I lost to a low of 116 for about two days, but it was a fluke.   I weighed in the 120-122 range for the first few years.     Now, I weigh anywhere from 124-129.    I got down to a way too skinny for my age size 0-2.   I wear a 2 or 4 currently. I am at work right now, wearing the same size 4 non-stretchy very fitted jumper that I bought four years ago.   Yup, I love my DS.

Good luck.

I'm only 21 months out so I am still a newbie compared to many.

I currently weigh 130 (I am 5'4") and my weight range for normal is 108 to 145. At 145, I cross over into overweight.

I got down to 121 this spring because of a jaw surgery unrelated to my DS but it made me unable to eat solids for about 2 weeks...I am JUST now getting back to my normal lifestyle.

Depending on who makes it, I wear between a 0-6. Typically a 4. (Vanity sizing is wonderful, NOT). And I can hear you ask, what is vanity sizing...

Well, as the years rolled by, sizes got smaller but clothes actually stayed the same. I have an Army uniform from 1980 which is a size 12 and it fits AS tight as my size 4. Typically a size 10 in the 1950's is now a size 0. In the Sears’s 1937 catalog, a woman with a 32 inches (81 cm)-bust would have worn a size 14 dress. In 1967, the same woman would have worn an 8. In 2011, she would wear a zero.

But I would be smaller if I had less tummy hanging over...it adds about 2 sizes to most clothes.

I'm 19 months out, down to 190 from a high of 340. I'm 5'3" so my goal is weighing about 150 lbs, then I will probably consider plastics due to thigh and arm skin mostly. Lost 150 lbs but still have 40 lbs to go to make that goal.

One thing to consider with your goal weight is that I've heard excesss skin for people with high BMIs can be about 10-15 lbs, so keep that in mind. 125 lbs + 15 lbs excess skin "allowance" might be more accurate/fair to yourself. It's not really possible to get rid of skin without surgery so don't hold it against yourself from the start. I'd suggest taking the top weight for BMI 25 range for your height, add about 10-15 lbs and call that your first goal. Re-assess when you get there.

I'm about 2.5 years out from my DS.  My highest weight was right around 301 (non-pregnant), my surgical weight was 283.  I lost down to below goal at 11 months postop, and got down to several pounds below goal by 14 months out (goal was 165, I dropped down to 153 and looked SICK.  Once you are a "normal" BMI, 10lbs makes a BIG difference in your apperance and how clothes fit).  I am 6' tall.  I am weight stable now after a 10lb bounce back, and hover between 165-170 these days, no matter what I do.  I wear a size 6, 8 or 10 depending on brand.  If I could afford plastics, Im sure I would be in a size 4 or 6.  I DO work out regularly and am very active (except for a recent serious injury thats had me sidelined for 4 months).  I do still drink at least one protein shake a day.  I still make sure to drink all my fluids and take all my vitamins.  I spend about $100 a month on protein & vites.

I am just over the four year mark, (Sept. 11, 2008) and my heaviest before surgery was 385 lbs, (estimated), I hit my first 100lb mark lost at 5 months out and lost my second around August of 2009. I bounce between 185 and 190 consistanly. I still have days where some food does not go down as well. I am 6' tall and I do not worry about my actual weight but the measurment of my clothes. I went from a size 57" waist to a size 34" waist and 4XL shirts to a medium.

Truthfully my own goal weight was 205lbs, my surgeons goal weight was 172lbs, and I landed at 185. If I feel that I have bounced a little high I go back to the basics for a couple of days and get back to my now normal.

You will feel what the right weight is going to be.
