Low-Fat diet required for DS?

Immediately postop, you probably will have some diarrhea and it will stink.  As time goes on, your system will sort itself out and you will learn your new rules.

First lesson for DS - dieticians and nutritionists are relatively useless.  I can count on one hand how many I've heard of even trying to grasp the concept of what we need.

We DSers malabsorb 80% of the fat we eat, so yeah, we need to eat fat!  We need it for our skin, our digestive system and our brain function.  I can tell you that trying to eat a high protein diet without worrying about low fat is quite liberating and SO much easier!

There is a shred of partial truth.  Yes, you will likely have very loose stools, however unlike diarrhea, you will be in control.  They will stink as poo does, and have a piquant DS flavor to them.  It has nothing to do with the fat, though.  Certain carbs are the biggest culprits for me....NOT fat

JHC.  I have to LOOK for fat in my diet or I will never poop again.  I  have had a particularly hard time finding yogurt with fat in it (pun not intended).  Okios has some that does.

I add fat to everything I can.  I eat a lb of bacon a day too.

Fat is your friend.
