It is the snack that kill me too.  I was doing better when I was working at home but now in the office I am tempted by things I would not have in my house.  I am surprised I have not gained wt.  I have started exercising 4 x a week at work during lunch which may be the reason why I have not gained any wt.  I read more then I post on this site and I guess I was feeling like it seems every one is using their DS a lot better then I it nice to know others struggle and did find away to work though it and get the wt off.

 Even when I was really heavy, the key to losing was always carbs.  When I got rid of them, I lost weight.  It's the same thing with the DS.

I've always been an all or nothing type of person and it's easier for me to cut them out completely than moderate them.  Maybe that's just me.

But here's the deal.  You only get one weightloss window where the pounds come off fast.  You CAN always lose but it gets harder as time goes by.  So do what you have to do.  Get rid of the carbs.  Don't even have them in the house.  If popcorn is your nemesis, don't keep it in the house.

No one in your home needs junk food/carbs.  That's just an excuse.  Everyone is better off without them.  Keep things like bacon. chicken/tuna salad, and deli meat at the ready for snacks.  If watching TV in the evenings is a trigger for eating, lift weights while you watch or take up knitting.

You went through a drastic surgery to lose weight.  You have to change too.

Everyone doesn't get the same results from the DS.  Do what you need to do to get the best possible results from yours.  I say this as one of the DSers who didn't get the free ride and sail to goal effortlessly.  I will never see a normal BMI and I know it.

Thank you for being so positive.  I have to admit I have an 11 year old and I do have stuff in the house I say is for her but you are right we do not need it in the house at all.  I wonder if I do the carb detox if I will ever crave protein for a snack because I have to admit that is not my first choice.  I literally bought a small blender for work so I can have a protein shake in the afternoon other wise the peanut M&M's they have for every one to eat has tempted me more then once.  I find myself being healthier the more I come to this site......................

Donna, what do you think of this idea?  On Sunday, go out and buy at least 3 days of protein stuff for you.  Overestimate it and buy extra for what others in the house will eat.  Bring it home and cook it or do whatever to prepare it.  Put in meal size containers in the fridge so its just ready to grab and go.  Easy things would be like ham rolled up in a cheese slice or turkey slices rolled on a romaine lettuce leaf and wrapped  in plastic wrap so that it won't dry out.  Cook turkey burgers or cheese burgers and place in baggies so there ready to go.  Make these portions be really generous so that when your done eating your not going to have any more room in your tummy for carbs.  The key to this is that is just siting there in your fidge ready for you to grab it and eat.  No thinking involved.  Then Tuesday you can go to the store and restock your supply in your fridge.  In time you will find yourself craving the high protein stuff!

 This is a good idea!  Have the right foods readily available and ready to eat.  And the wrong foods don't have to be in your house at all.  That turkey burger is a better snack for anyone than cookies and chips.

As far as I'm concerned, a protein shake is punishment and it sure doesn't cut it when everyone else is eating M&M's.  Look for something you can have.  Have you ever tried Atkins "candy bars"?  I think they taste pretty good and the sugar alcohols will keep you from overeating them too!  Give them a try.  Some of Russell Stover's SF stuff is pretty good too.  And again the sugar alcohols will teach you real fast that you have to practice portion control.

I am going to try it and see if I start craving the protein snacks instead of the carbs.  I seem to do good with meals it is the snacking / grazing in the afternoon  that kills me.

I can't tolerate any sugar alcohols at all. Even sugar free gum can build up enough to make me sick. Try it out with caution when you know you are going to be home.

Lots of regular gum has sugar alcohol in the ingredient list, too, not just the sugar free ones.
