im about 5 weeks out, and the sounds are so funny, except when i was interveiwing but i have no problems explaining why my tummy does weird things. when im arguing with my husband i can drown him out by the sounds of my musical tummy lol.

Mine gurgled before and even more after surgery.  It's worse with liquids than solids, which is why I struggle getting down protein drinks and the foam with them. I find that drinking everything from a straw helps reduce it a bit. Of course, I've also heard that some surgeons recommend you stay away from straws early on. Mine said it didn't matter. Also, hot or warm drinks cause more gurgling for me. So I switched to iced coffee at work and no longer drink hot tea and cider unless I'm at home.

It's different for everyone but you can probably find ways to minimize it. Good luck!

I don't really suffer much with gurgling so I guess it's one of those YMMV things.

Are you taking a PPI? Mine happened more before I upped my Prevacid to twice a day. Mine is worst with bread, I avoid wheat anyway, but if I have to grab a lunch on the rush somewhere where there are no better options and the meat alone in the sandwich isn't sufficient to fill me as happened to me this week, my tum can groan for hours after that! Not fun and a good reminder for why I avoid wheat products! I remember this happening once with pasta as well, I've only had it twice since surgery (almost 7 months ago) and don't plan on it again soon. I seem to only be able to tolerate wheat products in small quantities when they are drowned out by protein and fat.
I had OHIP approved Duodenal Switch surgery with Dr. Dennis Hong at St. Joseph's Hamilton on March 7th, 2012. Want more information on the DS in Ontario? Send me a private message!

OK, I lied. I just had lunch and am getting them, but they're not very loud and I don't normally notice them!!

Somone needs to come up with a combo vitamin or Rx to stop it.  This is insane.  I'm doing fine with my protein shakes and food.  When tha****er goes down (or Krystal Light)... it's like an alien is there....Sheesh!
