Absolutley! This is the photo my son took of me yesterday on my 3 year anniversary. I am feeling
fantastic and just a few years younger than you.

I would absolutely do it again!  I was 51 when I had mine.  I'll be 55 in January, God willing.

I did not lose my hair.  The hair loss issue seems to depend on the individual, as does everything else connected with weight loss surgery.

I've heard of hair loss caused simply by the body's reaction to trauma, and some bodies react that way, others don't.  I do know you can lose hair from vitamin deficiencies, but that's why we learn and boost vites pre-op, to give ourselves the best possible outcome.

Hope all goes well for you!

I just had mine on August 1st, 2012.  It's great to hear the wonderful stories.  It is my first WLS.  I would not have it again. I have been in the hospital twice.  Yes, it was from the DS, my body is trying to reject the DS part of the surgery.   I have had severe problems.  I would make sure you have a good surgeon who has good aftercare and will return phone calls after hours.

Good Luck!

Yes, I would.

I was 39 and had BMI of 62, had insulin dependent type 2 diabetes and was on such a high dosage, my insurance set limit on coverage. I keep pharmacy bills from my preop times for over $1000. With my sleep apnea I was falling a sleep in the office and snore like a lumberjack.

It all was gone within weeks. Friggin history.

Look at my signature, my BMI is under 25 now. I would do ANYTHING for these results. again and again.

Just today I had a meeting at work and the director, giving a speech made me shiver. He looked like a 400 pounds man. In 2007 he had RnY with the surgeon from up state NY. In the same 2007 I was approved for RnY with this surgeon and already had a surgery date. I changed my mind and reapplied for DS.
Today I was sitting in the room in my size 8 pants, medium size shirt, wearing high hills, watching the guy and thanking god for DS and for my best change of mind EVER..

Edited to add about hair loss.
I lost some hair 17 years ago after my breast surgery, 6 years ago after C-sec, 4 years ago after DS and two years ago after plastics. It wasn't all gone and it was back with vengeance, lol.
Nata, a very happy DSer!
Starting BMI - 62, current BMI - NORMAL!!!!!.

204 pounds lost!!!!

Yes! I had complications after my surgery and it was not a smooth journey for the first 3 months. I had a very experienced surgeon but things like this happen. That is why it is so important to check DS facts for a surgeon. I see so many people not listen to others on this board and they end up with being butched or dead. I witnessed my first death a month before my surgery and it scared the **** out of me. This surgery is no joke and it takes a lot of work after wards but its worth it, JUST DO IT RIGHT!! :) Research, get into a support system, get a great surgeon, vitamins, protein, ect.

Hair loss is so minor a thing and its just 'hair'. Hair loss was not a deciding factor for me but my girly side worried. I sqwashed those feelings because this had nothing to do with my hair, it was about my health. I wanted my health back and the hair topic just didn't matter. My personal experience with my hair loss, is a lost a bit of it. I had very very thick hair, so now I have regular hair and on top of that its starting to grow back already (I am 9 months out).

So bottom line...
DS is the best thing I could have given myself...a longer life, a healthier life, and a happier life
Hair loss is just so minor...cute hats or even wigs will help until you regain it back

Hmm. Lets see. 6 Years ago I weighed close to 500 lbs. Today I weigh 260 lbs. Next month I finally get to do my plastics.

Yeah!!!....  I'd do it again.  Oh.. And I still have all my hair.
