Hello,

Please make sure you are with a surgeon who has done many of these procedures - www.dsfacts.com is the site I see given out most. It has vetted surgeons. I had this done
in March 2012 and had major complications. My surgeon was one of the top two in the United States. It is a very complicated operation. Ask questions, listen to the risks (I did but just assumed they would never happen to me). If my surgeon was not as skilled as he is I may not have made it so please ask your doctor how many of these revision he has done.

Now all that said it is almost 6 months out now and I am doing better. The complications are very slowly fading and I have lost almost 100 lbs. I can't say yet though if it was worth it. What I went through is still to close.

Keep asking questions, listen and make sure you have the right doctor.

Best of luck, Terri

PS. I am not trying to say you should not do it or scare you I just want you to have a good doctor.

Hi, I am a revision as well. I had agree with the earlier post and make sure the surgeon has experience with revisions and you will be fine. I was stressed out as well and I had no issues and infact I was only "on the table " for two hours. My surgeon was very experienced and my recovery was thankfully uneventful!!!! Good Luck and don't worry so much!!! lol

Thank you heather , that makes me feel better. I had the RNY in 2007 and have gained 100 lbs so this surgery is my last chance.  My surgeon is very good. Thanks again!

Also, did you wake up with a tube down your throat?

Good!

I had my RNY-DS revision in April of 2011.  I have had a great recovery and am at my lowest weight ever.  I did not get anywhere near normal with the RNY and gained back to my preop weight.  I finally feel normal...most of the time, lol...and it was the best thing I have ever done!

I had my RNY to DS revision in 12/10. This is very complex surgery and there are only a handful of surgeons who are skilled and experienced enough. So, pick yours carefully.

I was terrified too but was desperate. It was one of the best decision I've made.
