Went back to work today at 8 days post op

I went back to work today for a couple of hours at 8 days post-op.  I work for my family and there is just no one that knows how to do the work.  I cut a "blind" payroll for last week where I estimated the number of hours the guys normally work and just forced the date so that they could be paid last week.  However, this week I had to rectify that payroll and pay them any excess hours they were owed plus pay this weeks hours.  Let me tell you that it was HARD.  My brain is still in a fog and it took me about 4 times as long to do the payroll.  I had to check and check my work because I was making errors. Anyway, I just wanted to share this info for those of you that can't take much time off of work.  It can be done, but it is quite a struggle.  I'm hoping to work 2 hours a day for the next week or so and then try to add an hour per day each week.  I'm sure I will muddle through somehow.

I'm sure those guys appreciate you making the extra effort to get them paid. You did what you needed to do but now I hope you can rest and heal. :)

I'm admit that I am in a similar situation that you are in.  I also work for family, as my mother owns a home health agency.  It's not that no one else can do my job, but everyone is so busy that they really can't take on the extra responsibilites of my position. I'm the office manager and I also do the payroll and numerous other tasks. I am scheduled for my DS in November, so I have a little time still to hopefully get someone trained to take over for me while I'm on leave.  By "leave" I mean about 2 weeks.  That's about all the time I can take off without everything going to H*LL. I'm hoping to work half days for a couple of weeks after that before I'm back full time. That is my Plan.  So, It's reassuring to know that there is someone else out there who has done this with very little time off work. Thanks for sharing :)
