Kroger Carbmaster Yogurt - Just Say NO!

Kroger Carbmaster Yogurt is NASTEEEE!

It was on sale, and I bought some, only to find out that it's more like Jell-O than yogurt.

I looked at a carton of it and Kroger Blended, and found that gelatin is indeed listed closer to the top of Carbmaster's ingredient list than Blended. Carbmaster only has one more gram of protein (8g) than Blended (7g).

Personally, I'd rather have the creamier texture and taste of Blended, if I'm going to do cup yogurt. I usually buy the 2 pound tubs of Vanilla and Plain, and do flavors and fruit add-ins myself!

Oh no!  I really like the Carbmaster yogurt.  I almost lived off that stuff just after surgery.  But I dig through the flavors and find the ones with 12 grams of protein.  There's a raspberry and a caribean that are yummy.  I could only find about 5 flavors with the higher protein and we have about 25 flavors here.  Everyone is so different so I guess if you're going to try it, don't buy too many.

The next protein snack (or breakfast) I'm going to try will be greek yogurt.  We'll see how that goes.  Hope you find something you like too!

The Kroger nearest to me does not have the selection that the large Kroger-Savon south of town has.

I usually just buy regular greek yogurt by the tub and call it a day, but I was really disappointed.

Have you seen the Dannon Fit & Light Greek yogurt? Its new. You can googel it and print a coupon off their site for $1 off. I can't remember the ratio of carbs to protein, but my memory says it was better than the Carbmaster.

I usually don't do anything in the "light", "lite" or "reduced calorie" "low fat" or "fat free" category..not even low carb. It was on sale, and I was trying to save a little money.

I'm a full fat, full flavor DSer...with only 20% of fat absorbed, you really don't have to deal with that.

Regular plain or vanilla or 2% Chobani is the closest you can get to yogurt with some fat in it. I sometimes doctor mine with heavy cream, and I usually use extracts and frozen or fresh fruit.

Greek Yogurt is the best! and if I don't have sour cream, I use the plain as sour cream on a baked potato.

Thanks for the tip on the coupon! I'm very big on couponing.

Many of us eat for the "no added sugar" factor, not the fat free aspect.

I love my Carbmaster yogurt, and mine is nice and creamy and not at all like jell-o.  Perhaps your fridge is ultra cold or something - or your flavor selection yields a different result?  BTW - the yogurt flavors I get have 10-12g of protein.

I'm like Val, I've liked Carbmaster. However, I mostly eat Fage full fat and sweeten and flavor it myself.  My main focus along with protein, is the amount of carbs.  Chobani has as much as 20G carbs, 19G sugar.  I know that some of that is milk sugar/carbs, but my Fage only has 6.  So, I can think of better ways to use 20G carbs than one serving of yogurt.

I completely agree with you. I purchased some yesterday at Kroger because it was 60 calories and 10 containers for $4. Oh, my goodness! It's only vaguely like yogurt, and it tastes like pudding with medicine mixed in. I tried one yesterday and one today to be fair, and the other 8 are going into the trash. Live and learn!

About 2 years ago, I stopped eating CarbMaster (Kroger's).

I was eating 20-25 per week.

When I picked up my weekly stash at Ralph's, I would proselytize people who were looking at other yogurts.  I got many of them to buy CarbMaster (this was over a 3-5 year period).

One day, after finishing a CarbMaster, I left it on my desk and went out for about 4 hours.

Upon my return, I notice what looked like a spider-web like phenomenon within the container.

I called the market and a couple people, at Ralph’s, said they emptied containers and didn’t notice anything unusual.

I bought Dannon and Yoplait and did not have the same experience.

After numerous calls to Ralph’s and an outside agency, I was told the cause was casein and was told it was a milk by-product and was harmless.

Since it didn’t make sense that this morphing to this spider-like mass was not harmful, I discontinued CarbMaster and shifted to Yoplait light.

Whether I was physiologically damaged by CarbMaster, I don’t know, but I experienced great stress knowing that I had caused dozens to purchase this product.

Does anyone have additional information?
