A question about your nutritionist and doctor

I was given a diet sheet by the nutritionist while I was recovering in the hospital. The nutritionist visited while a nurse was attending me and dropped a diet sheet entitled RNY Post-op Diet!!

I didn't even get a chance to speak to her and she never visited me again. I was advised to eat toast, jacket potatoes and to eat low fat!! The surgeon confirmed that I really did get the DS and to not worry about fat.

My PCP also told me not to have NSAIDs and I explained to him that I was permitted them (I get Naproxen on script so I had to explain).

For the most part though it's easier to smile and nod. Why waste your energy? What are the odds of them ever learning more than you if they won't even differentiate between the DS and RNY!!

My surgeon's advice was substandard at best (still only recommends an extra 400iu of dry D), and I'd heard enough bad stories about nutritionists to not even bother wasting my money.  I learned what I know from the  knowledgeable DSers here and on Proboards.

I never saw either a nut or a surgeon after my surgery.  I am not going to pay them to not listen to me.

I eat a half pound of bacon every day of the world.  I also take Calcium Citrate  between 5 and 6 times a day, every day.

I write my own lab slips and send a copy of results to every doctor (surgeon, pcp, endo) and then share with the lab experts HERE (and on the other site) to get advice because none of those doctors can help me.

Glad to confirm I am not the only one eating so much bacon. To me our food choices with the DS is one reason I chose this surgery.

I don't have a nutritionist from my surgeon and I never saw one pre-op.  Now that I've been dxd with an ED I have one as long as I'm here in rehab.
