They denied DS first try, less then 50 BMI. Peer to peer in the works, for some reason they sent it to external review before peer to peer happened and it came back approved.

I have BCBS of Mi. I asked my surgeons office for the billing code of the D.S., called myself to see what the restrictions were. I was approved within a week with comorbidities, and being a cancer surviver- needed the D.S. to prevent future cancer by being thin for life. the D.S. is the best for least regain. I had a light weight start weight.  My surgeons office was the best at handling my insurance approval. I didnt have to do anything extra to be approved. I was told by my surgeon now there is a new mandatory pre diet of a few months for all the different types of insurance.

I'm not sure of your plans, but there are only a few surgeons in the country/world who do the RNY to DS revision. Take a look at DSFacts.com. This is very complex surgery, so do your research. I had mine done 12/10.

Good luck.
