Marsha, I'm sorry you are having these problems. Infortunately, even many DS surgeons provide inadequate advice when it comes to vitamins and supplements. Taking vitamins once daily isn't enough, in particular for calcium, because you can't absorb all the calcium you need all at once.
Regarding B12, there is no way to know if you are getting enough without checking your level with a blood test. Given that your surgery was so recent, and that we generally don't have the same trouble absorbing B12 as people with RNY, I doubt that is the cause of the problem, but it certainly would be a good idea to check your level just in case. Also, usually B12 deficiency causes peripheral neuropathy, meaning you would notice it in fingers and toes rather than thighs. But best to check it anyway.
I have no idea what is causing the thigh symptoms. There, how's that for an honest answer! I think this is definitely something your doctor needs to know about. Maybe it's somehow related to the antibiotics, but I really don't know. I don't think this is something we can sort out for you over the Internet.
Regarding calcium, most of us take it 4 times daily. Regarding your other vitamins, without knowing what you are taking and how much, etc., I don't think I can say much more than that.

PS who did your DS? I don't know of any DS surgeons where you are.

It might not be B12 but some other B vitamin. You really should try to get your nutritional labs drawn to know exactly what might be going on.
As far as what vitamins, you might take a look at www.vitalady.com. She has DS starter packages. You want to break your batches into several times a day and keep your iron separate from all your other vitamins. Once you start getting your labs back you can either adjust your vitamins up or down. I think if you call and talk to the Vitalady staff they can send you a copy of a suggested schedule.

Vitalady is the best way to go especially when trying to keep up with all that is required day to day to stay healthy and hydrated. I am 9 months out and have followed her recommended program from the start and have only had issues with low potassium which is a prescribed supplement.
I had pain in my upper thighs and it was lower back related from sleeping in my recliner. Hope you get this resolved soon.
