OMGosh, I want to have the same thing done and I haven't got once answer. I just wanted to see  if you can request it after gastric. I don't want to take the chance of weight climbing back up again.

You probably can't get your insurance company to pay for it unless there's a medical necessity---like significant regain, or some medical problem that your RNY is causing or is making worse.

Not me personally, but I know many people who have. It's a very complicated procedure, and requires a highly experienced surgeon. I'd recommend Dr. Keshishian in CA, but there are others.

hopefully others that have had the revision will chime in,  yes it can be done but there are virtually a handful in the world that can do that, DO NOT go to just anyone, to take down the pouch from RNY to a normal functioning stomach of the DS is NOT a small thing.  do your research....you are in CA you have 2 of the best in the world, Rabkin and Keshashian......

Please look in my profile.

And please read DSfacts.com as well.

This is the link that sealed my decision to go from my 2002 failed RNY to DS revision.

Hello,

I had this done in March 2012. Dr. John Rabkin in San Francisco is one of the two surgeons I have seen recommended. I used him and still had major complications. It is doable and many have had it done but please go to a recommended surgeon. Listen to the risks since they are real. This is not something to do to lose a few pounds. I had started at 450 with the RNY, got down to 299.9999 for about one second and was 375 when I did the revision.

Dr. Rabkin's website is http://www.paclap.com/. It has a lot of valuable information and the practice is setup for patients to travel to him. I did not since I live nearby.

Best of luck. Terri

I had RNY to DS revision June 2011 with Dr Roslin in NYC.

My pre-RNY weight was 382 lbs.  Got down to 197 lbs for about 2 days and was always back over 200 lbs.  My DS pre-op weight was 298, and now I am 5 lbs below goal at 165. A  lot less than I ever got with RNY.
Nothing feels better than being able to go into ANY store and fit their clothes!

I had a RNY to DS revision with Dr. Keshishian 12/10. Best thing I ever did!! Read and pick your surgeon carefully. This is very complex surgery. Be prepared to travel and check your insurance. Mine excluded WLS so I was self pay.

Good luck.
