Congratulations!!!!! So darn exciting!! I'm glad I got to see your post, I'm not on here a lot anymore.
About the port - I had to get one for chemo, all & all, it's really not that bad. The worst is simply moving around "wrong" in such a way that pulls on the stitches where your skin is healing back together (where they inserted it). After the first week, it's cake.
I was really afraid it would hurt to get it accessed/ stuck, but so long as you use the lidocain numbing cream, it doesn't hurt - most of the time, not AT ALL. Just put the cream on, cover with saran wrap, & leave it sit for 60 - 90 minutes before access. So long as you plan ahead, easy peasy. If you forget, well, that sucks, to be honest.
