4 weeks out from surgery. As new items are allowed, I can't hardly wait to have it. After a couple of bites I don't want anything to do with it, nor do I want it later. Is this normal ? It doesn't seem to be an issue of restriction, just don't want it.

I had that very same experience, and it lasted a good 6-9 months. It's kind of sad, isn't it?

Nothing tasted or smelled good for me for about six months.  Then it slowly went away.  Fine now!  It won't last forever but may last months.

Thanks for your experiences. It gives me hope I'll someday actually eating again. Right now it's really just a chore and can't hardly get through it.

Yes this was normal for me.  I didn't like much for the first few months.  Now, at more than 19 months out, I like almost everything I used to like and I can eat most of it in moderation so don't worry.  Your time will come.

Thanks for encouragement, I don't want to go back to the bad eating habits I had, but would like to enjoy the choices I make. All of your responses have helped keep me focused on the future.

Try not to worry.  This will eventually pass. Get in all your fluids and work on getting as much protein as you can.  It will help you heal.  This is just your job for right now. Keep working.   Soon things will be easier.
