Donna,
I'm thinking of setting up an appointment with Dr. Stewart and want to know how low your BMI went after the VSG? Was it ever under 40? My BMI dropped under 40 for only a few weeks at 1 year out. Appreciate any information you are comfortable in sharing like BMI history they are requiring or following guidelines after VSG. Thanks for your help and Good Luck - will remember you in my prayers for good outcome - Yea Aug 29!

Congrats! I'd be really interested in what hoops you had to jump through for BC/BS Federal. I've been told that even with 35BMI I had to have uncontrolled comorbidities. Which meant I was on highest dose of medication and my numbers were still off (i.e. hypertension and type II).  But I was also told that a 40 BMI ended the discussion of comorbidities, and I am really close to that, but just found out my doctors office had my height 1 inch more that it really is - so that definitely makes a difference. What was the time range BC/BS wanted you to prove for obesity - 1 yr, 2 yr, etc? I'm trying to get all my ducks lined up and would really appreciate the criteria they required and if you don't mind - why they denied to begin with. I'm so jealous, wish you all the best - understand Texas has some of the best docs around for DS. GOOD LUCK!
