I love my Duodenal Switch!
I second what Janine said. It all depends on what you eat. I have DS instestines, but kept my RNY pouch. I have a 75cm common channel and can pretty much eat anything in moderation. Sugar and lots of flour is what kills me if I eat it in large quantities. For example, occasionally there will be a day that I will go overboard and I will eat baked goods, cheeze-its, pizza and breadsticks , sugary soda, etc, all on the same day. My tummy will rumble, my poops will get pudding like and I will go potty a little more, maybe like 4 or 5 times that day. I might even get bloated and suffer from more gas than usual. Then if I continue the next day (which I have). The frequency will increase and I might even get liquidy movements and I what I refer to as fire-butt. I don't know what it is, but too much carb/sugar combo will start causing "it" to burn like if I ate a handful of serranos the day before. I've read others mention the same thing. Again, this is usually caused by an exaggerated amount of carbs for more than one day. Like when I tried to do a modified Daniel Fast with my church. Since proteins are required for me, I did allow myself protein (mostly in shakes), but I also had a lot more carbs than I am used to and... wow! Is all I can say. Now if I do do a fast I basically just do a protein fast, no more daniel fast or juice fast for me.
Now, if I am good and eat mostly protein with some carbs thrown in here and there (and even an occasional treat like a candy bar or a pastry) I have no issues. I tend to potty like 3 or 4 times a day. It all depends on the carb intake though. More carbs = more poops. My stomach has settled a lot more now though. My stomach was a little bit more temperamental when I first got my surgery.
Stuff like orange juice and mangos still give me tummy trouble. Milk gives me lots of gas and makes me feel like I am going to birth an alien baby until it finally "leaves" my intestines.
Another thing to keep in mind is that there can be a bit more urgency, especially in the mornings. I have to head to the bathroom as soon as I wake up. My tummy waits for no one. After a couple of visits I am usually done. Unless the previous day was a carb heavy day, then I might have another visit or 2. I've never been constipated after my surgery, although I did suffer from occasional constipation before. I haven't had any accidents either.
ALTHOUGH, and keep this in mind, especially when you are new. Initially never trust a fart. And if you are way overdoing it in the fat department you should also proceed with caution when farting. About 3 months after my surgery I had a couple fried tacos. Well I trusted a fart and there was an oil slick. No poop, just oil. I've eaten the same tacos afterwards and never had an issue.
Hope that helps a bit and answers some of your questions. :)

Janine,
An amazing DS transformation. You look so tiny, like there really isn't another 10lbs let alone 30-40lbs to go. If you are going for the LBL with a butt flap augmentation, you'll need a little fat on your lower back. Glad you found us over on Dr Sauceda's group.
