Hello,

I have not posted in many years but thought I would update you all on my 5 year post DS results.
I lost 100 pounds and have kept 90 off. All my labs are great and within normal limits. My last osteoporosis scan was normal. I feel and look great. With only one concern. I seem to get large bright red blotches-bruises on my arms only that appear out of nowhere.  My Vitamin K came back extremely low. I was wondering what other D/S's Vitamin K dose was.

I'm taking 1000 mcg a day but I've seen others take much more. I get mine from Vitalady. My dietitian had me taking it at bedtime away from my other vitamins just to see if it would show up on my labs. It didn't really but I do take vitamin A and K separate.

I was having the same issues and by trial and error and labs, I ended up taking 10,000 mcg of vitamin K1 every day. It sounds like a lot but I stayed low until I upped it to the 10,000.
I get it at vitacost and it's not expensive, I just take the one a day. I always make sure I have it on hand because I don't want to get low again and get the side effects from being low.

While you are upping the K1 make sure you get tested every month or two until you are in the normal range. Don't just up it to 10,000 right away.
