Trying to find a chocolate bar substitute!

Is there any reason that any of you can see as to why I shouldn't be eating these as a chocolate bar substitute (sometimes may eat 2 in a day but the smaller size with only 15g)? I'm trying to kick a SERIOUS sugar habit that I've gotten myself into. I'M CRAVING SOOOOO BAD ALL THE TIME and I actually kind of like these things LOL!

If the sugar alcohols don't bother you go for it.

Hi Gina!
A few years ago it would have ruined me and made me so uncomfortable. I've noticed in the last year that my tolerance has gone WAY up for the fake sugar it's just that ummm I genrally don't want the fake stuff.

These give me terrible gas, LOL!

I just eat super dark chocolate.  It's pretty low in carbs and now regular chocolate is too sweet for me.

The sugar alcohols would kill me and the gas would kill my family!!!

I find a little dark chocolate here and there is fine.  I agree about the fake stuff, I never eat it anymore and I feel much better.  A little sugar here and there isn't gonna kill you!

I use natural quest bars. Full of fiber - and not many SA - then one there is erytritol - the mildest one.

yea - need recall this statement -realized that they do affect my blood sugar more than they should based on the "theoretical numbers". My body reacts to them as if they had over 20 gr of simple carbs -sugars. Not so good

I made these the other night based on a recipe from Oxygen (Fitness) Magazine. They are pretty good, all natural,  and have good protein and fat in them.  They're a 'pre-workout' snack for me.

Peanut Butter Protein Balls:

1/3 Cup Natural Peanut Butter (I added an extra 1/8 cup and cut back the honey)
1/4 Cup honey (I only used 1/8 cup)
1 Scoop Isopure Dutch Chocolate Protein Powder
3 Tbsp Ground Flax Seed
3  Tbsp Dark Chocolate Chips (unsweetened) -

Mix it all together, roll it into 14 balls, and refrigerate overnight.

The base recipe is 80 calories each with 5g protein/6 carb.  As I noted, I cut back the honey and used more peanut butter to bring the protein up and the carb count down.  I don't like things super sweet to start with, though, so it's a matter of taste.  You might be able to use a SF syrup made with Splenda instead of the honey to take it down further.
