Great DS Breakfast Cereal!

If you are a breakfast cereal fanatic, try Kashi Go Lean in the red box.

It has:
  • 13g Protein
  • 10g fiber
  • Low in Fat—1g
  • 8g of whole grains
There are other flavors too, and I have tried them all except the Cinnamon Crumble Go Lean Crisp, which just came out.  I particularly like the Honey Almond Flax mixed with the regular, because it has nuts.  The Original in the red box has the highest protein of them all, and if you tend to be a little runny sometimes, this will firm you right up...lots of fiber. I also use the regular for snacks, instead of popcorn.  Getting my crunch on, along with a little protein!

Carbs?  I've never had a problem with too many carbs.  I've never really been a bread eater.  Mostly meat and potatoes (with lots of butter), which is a dream meal for a DSer!  I also make a crazy mean brown and wild rice pilaf with mushrooms and green onions, from scratch! No Uncle Ben's mix for me!

No need to go without your morning ceral and milk fix, you can still do that, and get some protein in, to boot!

The carbs are good for those of us on maintainence ,but might be a bit too much for those in their wt. loss phase, however, these are complex carbs, not simple carbs, so a smaller serving might be a good way to work it into your plan.

Target has a cereal in an oval box, that has 15g per serving.  I eat it dry as I never have milk in the house.  They have like 4 flavors, but only one has 15g of protein.  When I want something crunchy w/protein, I pour it into a cup and eat it with a spoon.  I'll check out the name tonight when I get home.

I'll have to check out that Target cereal.
For the budget conscious , Aldi has two versions ofthe regular and the crunch.
Good, but  real Kashi is better.

Love this cereal! It's the only one I eat that doesn't seem to bother me!
