That would be a very enthusiastic YES.  Some items take more time for some people to tolerate, and one needs to be mindful not to go butt-wild with the white carbs.  Eat your protein first, then veggies, then anything goes with the tiny amount of room left and you won't get into too much trouble.

There's absolutely nothing that I LIKE that I don't eat, in moderation. I do eat protein first, and I'm not the fan of rice and pasta I used to be---but I do eat them on occassion. I do NOT eat cereal, because I don't like it---but I fry all sorts of things. Like cheese. (*grin*)

Muzzled, I disagree with those that say DSers can eat anything in small amounts. Everyones results are different.   I became gluten intolerant so I can eat absolutely no bread and really have to read labels carefully.  I sometimes miss bread. (I was a real bread eater in my former life.)  But I would still do it all again because of all the health benefits.

Yes, all of the above.

HOWEVER.

It's not a DS thing.  It's how your body will adapt to the surgery.  Different people have different issues with EVERY surgery.

YES YES YES....BUT BUT BUT....I had my DS open in 1999 and lost 208 pounds, below goal fast and have kept it off down to 124.

The But would be though, Carbs BLOAT me like crazy but I can eat them. I can eat anything I want and sometimes I do but I always eat my protein first and easy on the carbs because I can literally gain 5 pounds when I bloat. So, it's just not worth it most of the time.

I am so glad I had the DS so I would not really have to watch what I eat to close.

Peace, Sherri

I eat all of those things and more. However I'm almost 3 years out now. Right after surgery you want to eat lower carb to make the most of your weight loss window. However long term, there isn't anything you need to give up. It took me maybe a year to be able to eat bread very well and make a year to eat hamburger meat. Those two things were kinda rough in the beginning, but now I can eat like it's nothing. I eat a normal sized meal also, it's on the small size, but normal sized. When I had issues with bread and hamburger meat it wasn't I COULDN'T eat them, I just got full quickly from them. Hope this helps.
