Need some advice on Vites, please...
DS on 03/12/12
I had my 6 week post op follow up yesterday. As I have posted before, the chewable vitamins are really starting to make me gag, so I am going with capsules. I met with the RD and here is her suggestion for vites:
3 Celebrate capsules, take 1 capsule 3 times daily
1 Celebrate Iron + C capsule, once daily
1 softgel AquADEK, once daily
And that is it. I get my blood drawn in 4 weeks and will meet again to go through my numbers.
However, I have been researching through Celebrate and VitaLady and I am curious to whether it would be better to go with individual ADEK vitamins or the single AquADEK? I know that it is more cost effective to go with VitaLady for the ADEK individually and besides for just $2 more I can get a full 3 month supply rather than a 2 month supply of AquADEK. I also know I would be getting slightly higher doses of the ADEK with VitaLady.
I guess it's a matter of preference? Would I rather take 1 softgel OR take 4 pills or do I want to save a chunk of money and get a whole additional month of vitamins?
Also, I cannot find the details of the multivitamins on VitaLady. I wanted to compare what she has to what Celebrate offers.
Does anyone else have a suggestion for another supplier or manufacturer? I am just really feeling overwhelmed and need to get the ball rolling on these, I am going to run out of my chewables soon.

Well, you know I'm a Vitalady groupie. :) You should be able to click the nutritional info link on all her multies and see the list of vites and how much. It also lets you print them. I have been very impressed with her Vita-Min multi capsules. I think the individual A, D, E & K1 are the only way to go too. You might also want to order vitamin K2 and calcium capsules, etc.

Thanks Gina,
I know you are a VitaLady fan...and I am as well. I think the AquADEK just doesn't seem to be enough. This is what they are, and they want me to take only 1 a day??
Each brown softgel tablet contains 18,167 IU Vitamin A, 800 IU Vitamin D (cholecalciferol), 150 IU Vitamin E, 700 mcg Vitamin K (phytonadione), with a combination of wa-ter-soluble vitamins.
Aquadeks softgels are a 60 count bottle.
I would think even with taking 3 of the multivitamins a day, doesn't give me enough of the needed ADEK. Though VitaLady I am looking at:
25,000IU Vit A
5,000IU Vit D3 (I more than likely will need more)
400IU Vit E
1,000mcg Vit K
All of which are substancially HIGHER than the AquADEK.

I take 2 Vita-Min a day as a regular multi and pretty much follow her plan. 50,000IUs of D3 unless you're below 50 and then it would be 100,000IUs a day.

I ordered my multivitamin through Celebrate as well as my Iron + C. I got a really good price through Amazon. If I don't like them, or if my numbers are low I have only a 30 day supply and I may change over to VitaLady. I am going to get my ADEK through VitaLady, the AquADEK just doesn't seem to give me ENOUGH of what I believe I am going to need. It is more pills to take, but I think it will be better in the long run. So do I have to take 50,000IU of Vit D? I am 37. Wow, it just seems like A LOT of vit D. |
