You already knew this, maybe? I just now found out.
Simethicone, the active ingredient in OTC "Gas Relief" and "Anti-Gas" medications, actually increases the rate at which gas exits your body. In other words, it makes you fart more at first.
"Simethicone is an anti-foaming agent that decreases the surface tension of gas bubbles, causing them to combine into larger bubbles in the stomach that can be passed more easily. Simethicone does not reduce or prevent the formation of gas in the digestive tract, rather, it increases the rate at which it exits the body."
Huh. And here I assumed that "antigas" medication would reduce the amount of gas your body produced. I guess it pays to look these things up...

Hey - thatnks for posting this! I was going to get some because everything I eat now makes me gassy and bloated! I don't know what to doooo. It's like I can't even eat anything anymore! bLaH
