Hi Everyone,

I am in the process of exploring my options and seeing what is the best route to get the DS surgery.  Who are the best surgeons in Houston and surrounding areas that work with self pay patients?  I will need a payment plan.  Is it difficult to get financing if your credit is "less than perfect"?

I've heard good things about Dr Stewart. He might not be close to Houston but most DSrs have to travel since there are so few DS surgeons.

Dr. Peters has not been practicing for some months due to his health, and, it seems like he won't be going back.

Stewart. Stewart. Stewart.  The travel to Denton will be worth it.

However, I don't know that this is the right time to take on a lot of debt, especially since the interest rate will probably be high if your credit isn't great.  It may be better to wait, try to save money for it first, and, in the meantime, see if you can get an insurance that will cover it.  Although, it could be that your health can't wait.

Edited for spelling.

Hugh Houston, M.D. Bariatric Surgeon - ObesityHelp

www.obesityhelp.com/profiles/bariatric-surgeon/dr-hugh-houston/ Hugh Houston is associated with the following Organizations.  Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity Bariatric Center.

The center has a policy of guaranteeing their work for 3 months - meaning that if you have complications during that time, the price tag for addressing those complication is on them.  I would recommend researching it some more in case I have some of my information wrong, but I'm thinking that for a self pay, knowing you would initially be covered in the event of post-surgery complications, that could be huge!

Dr. Houston does the DS and the other wls's as well (not sure of all of them that he does, but I do know he does more than just the DS.  However, last I heard, he was the only one their performing the DS.  I elected the DS because of the long term wt maintenance success most patients achieve.)

Best of luck!

My dad is in Houston and didn't want to travel for his DS, but after I helped him research the local surgeons (and after all of the stories given on here and other sites about the Houston surgeons), he agreed to go to Dallas to Dr. Stewart. He's having his surgery in May. Stewart really will be your best bet!
