Can any one give me a name of a good tasting protein?
Yes, I used Unjury at first. Bought the individual packets for travel. Next tried Nector Medical unflavored. It was easy to add my home made soups before serving. Juice, even SF juice has too many carbs for me. Any sugar is absorbed 100% and out of the question. I have been sugar free for 8 months beginning pre surgery. I try to keep below 20-30 carbs, never over 50 a day. I hate stalls/plateaus!!!!
I have followed my nutritionists meal guidelines from day one, until the list of foods increased to include too many non protein additional choices. Adding the higher carb foods stopped my down ward weight loss at 3 months- with an 80 lb total loss, no where near my goal. The Atkins diet has been my "go to" diet for most of my life, tried the" first week"plan, and had immediate success once again moving down to a 104 lb loss during the next 2 months.
At the same time I was swelling from something, had allergy tests, Used a doctor monitored elimination/food challenge diet to clear my system. With the suggested foods- green beans and chicken breast for 3 days, lost 6 lbs. Next added foods and shakes one by one to finalize my allergies and sensitivities. The protein only diet works for me very well. I hope to use it to finish off the last 25 lbs I have to get to my goal weight. Having lost 104 lbs in 6 months, my first year out goal is to be 125 lbs. 5' 2" I should be shopping in the petite sizes.
Food may be better than shakes for some for losing. I do grab one or two a day if I need to reach my protein/fluid total for the day. Journaling my meals from morning on helps me decide how to make the best choices for a completely ballanced combination of healthy nutrition and fluids.
Rather than focusing on finding the right shake for you, try taste testing foods, its the direction you should be headed for in the end. The reason I chose the D.S. was to be able to eat a most normal diet, go out with friends and not have them know I had WL surgery.
