Can any one give me a name of a good tasting protein?
I LOVE Creamy Vanilla Isopure! It's all I use and quite frankly, Its wonderful! I put it right in my coffee with cream and its FANTASTIC! I never go without it, in fact I like it better with the Isopure than without!
The coffee cant be HOT when putting in the powder, so i pour 1/3 cup coffee with my sweetener, then put my sugar free vanilla or hazelnut cream in it (which cools the coffee) then put my scoop of protein powder in it along with a dash of Cinnamon if i want (stir it up well at that point) and then fill the rest of the coffee cup to the top! Ohhh boy! Yummy, Yum Yum!
Good luck!

I like the Premire premixed protein shakes- 30g protein, chocolate or vanilla. found at Sams and Costco. Easy to take with me, have a few in a cooler in the car for unexpected delays getting home for meals.
Sweet flavors were not doable for me early out- protein beef or chicken broth, and protein lemonade were my favorites the first 3 months post surgery. Find them on line- diet Direct, or Bariatric Choice or GHP store Mi.
Add protein with protein meat sticks, nuts- cashews, almonds, natural peanut butter, hummus w/protein potato chips, steamed fish, steamed chicken.
Your tastes will change month to month, dont cancel any food or shakes out perminently, go back and retry from time to time. Everything had a metalic taste for a few months for me.

Thanks I tried the shakes from Costco which was lactose free and it was nasty. They only had chocolate as an option. Years ago when I was getting into shape post one of my children I remember drinking protein shakes and I enjoyed them. I do not remember them having a vit flavor which is what I think is what I did not like from the Costco premixed shakes.
Have a good night and thanks for your input.

You are only 2-3 weeks out. your taste has not returned to normal, most likely from all the anesthesia, and pain meds. Happened to all of us. After they work their way out of your body flavors will begin to taste good again. Nothing tasted right to me for at least a month to 6 weeks. my PA suggested trying all kinds of protein, food too. go back and try them later, dont eliminate them for ever if ythey dont taste right now.
Everyone gave lots of good ideas here. I have tried all the shakes, pre mixed, and powders. My real favorite is the protein lemonade fruit drinks in individual packets, come in a box of 7, available on line from Diet Direct, Bariatric Advantage, or GHP store, Mi.
I liked them because I was tired of all the sweet thick shakes, that filled me up too much. I could drink the lemonade all day and reach my protein and fluid levels. It tasted like my grandmothers lemon merangue pie. I took it on our trip to Florida, sipped it around the pool, under a palm tree. The individual packets were great to travel with, mixed easily with a travel size tiny battery whisk blender. Mixed it directly in a travel cup with a screw on lid.
Costco has the premade vanilla Premier shakes. They do have a few vitamns. I appreciate the 30g of protein, and low carbs. They helped me break my stall. Which is worth a bit of vitamins. My labs are all in the normal range, any vitamns are appreciated. I dont eat for pleasure any more, just to be able to lose before the easy weight loss window closes in a few weeks.
Everyone I know all over is adding sugarfree flavored syrups to their shake and drink mixes to make them more enjoyable. I have found them at Sams, and Walmart. More flavors are available on line. You should try some when your taste buds return to normal. Most likely you wouldnt like any at this point, because you havent liked anything in the drink category.
How about savory drinks like soup?

I have another idea for your protein drink search. I have heard of support groups having a protein drink tasting party. They all bring some and try them all. Suggest it to your support group. Its a good way to use the drink mixes you dont like, without waisting them. you may find a drink you like. Its a win win situation!!!!

You are right nothing taste good at this point. Peanut butter is tolerable. I have been lucky in terms of someone taking me under her wings so I was aware of the taste buds issue. However I was hoping there was some kind of protein shake which tasted decent enough the first few months to get enough protein down. Any thing that has tasted decent for hydration has been juice and I have been told not to go down that road as it is empty calories I suspect. A doc suggested unjury which I have never heard of http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/
