Tubes and such

 I had surgery on a wednesday and got discharged on Friday morning.. I had 2 drain tubes, they removed them On the day I got discharged.. No feeding tube.. I also traveled for my surgery. I stayed at a hotel for a few days, then the doc let me go home.

I did not have a feeding tube and my draining tubes were removed before discharge. I also traveled to have my surgery. Most people have to travel for their surgeries, the vetted surgeons are few and far between sprinkled throughout all different regions.

 I'm 10 days postop and never had a feeding tube. I did have a JP drain which Dr. Greenbaum removed when he discharged me from the hospital (on day 5, since he does his DS's open).

Every surgeon is different ... as is every patient.    Some surgeons don't use drains at all.  Some do.   Some place a feeding tube as a general practive ... some don't.    You need to ask your surgeon their NORMAL practice.    Mine did place 2 JP drains.   If I remember correctly one came out at my 1 week appointment and the second came out another week later since it was still producing enough discharge to keep it in.
