Hello all, I am a BPD-DS'er that has recently moved from the UK to Australia. I am struggling to find most of my vitamins and minerals in a 'malabsorbtion friendly' format here and even worse struggling to make both the GPs and pharmacists understand the concept, they look at me like I'm either insane - or a hypochondriac, I'm not sure which is more frustrating! lol

If any DSers are reading this is in Australia can you please let me know if you have any suggestions for getting the following:

Calcium and vitamin D3 (In UK was Cacit D3 effervescent sachets)
Vitamins ADE and K (was on AquADEKs softgels)
Zinc Sulphate (Solvazinc effervescent tablets)
Prescription multi vitamin (Forceval Multivitamin & Mineral Complex)

I know that I can buy some of the above online from overseas but it works out to be very expensive so if I could source some locally that would be much better for me.

Thanks!

There is at least one DS surgeon in OZ.  You can look it up here.  At one time, there was an Aussie DS board, but I can't remember the url.  Look for it.

I have a friend who is an Aussie DSer.  I still ship her vites and other sf stuff she can't get once or twice a year.  If I was in your shoes I think I would have a friend in the UK buy and ship for me.  It's expensive but it would buy you some time to try and find substitutes.

One thing you can get is calcium apatite.  It's very good calcium that's perfectly balanced because it's made from ground up bones.  We have a hard time finding it in the US.

To get the "good stuff". You have to order from os. Michelle from Vitalady was very helpful. I just ordered in bulk and kept them in the fridge.

It can get tricky having a friend send them as customs gets iffy sometimes. When it comes from a business with invoice, no problems.
