Agreed. Not wasting any more time on this one, unless they want to HELP the helpers, by supplying basic information.

I could barely eat more than a couple of bites before I felt full and sick to my stomach...but my stomach was made 50 mL...which is about 1.75 ounces.  I too was constipated...I tend toward constipation.  I took stool softeners then.  I now try to drink Metamucil once or twice a day and usually have 1 or 2 bowel movements a day in the morning.  It's seems fishy what your surgeon said...let's hope he's telling the truth.  Try your hardest not to eat more than 6 ounces and allow a few hours to go by before eating more.  It could be that your nerves were damaged and need time to get better...well, I'm not a doctor...but give yourself a week or two eating small meals every 3 hours or so.  Also, request a copy of your operative report.  Good luck!  Felicia

Well, I think Dr. John Rabkin is the "top DS surgeon in the US" and he does NOT have an associate assist in the OR like you're talking about. LOL

Seriously, tell us more and we can probably help you.

Sorry, guys, I am just now getting online to reply. No, I'm not a troll lol. I am truly having serious issues with the surgery!

I have been taking it slowly and eating smaller portions and not going over 4 ounces just to be safe. Maybe I can't feel the fullness because of damaged nerves but I kind of doubt that is the case here. It is a horrible feeling being as hungry when you finished eating as when you began! Not what I imagined after having surgery. I was never a big eater to begin with. My problems are metabolic and they were my main reasons for having surgery. This is something completely new for me!

I still have not had a BM and I wonder if I have a kink some where? I plan on calling the Dr's office today although I hear he may be going on vacation. I will also ask about getting a surgery report. Thank you to those who mentioned this as it hadn't entered my mind.

As for my surgons name, I do not wish to disclose that just yet. I need to see if he is able to help me through this and don't want to hamper that in any way. Yes, I know there are several Docs who are considered the best so I probably should have said mine is considered one of the best.

I appreciate hearing from all of you. This has thrown me for a loop! I hope my body is just slow to come around and I won't need further surgery. I'm very concerned!

B**** 2 weeks out I suspect you’ll probably be on a lot of slider foods, as you start on more solid high protein foods the hunger may start to improve.

I don't think you understand. Knowing the surgeons name wouldn't hinder things with his helping you through this.

There ARE some differences between surgeons with the things like bougie size or cc length, and it makes a difference.

So, you are asking for help, yet intentionally leaving the helpers shackled. If you expect us to make the effort, it certainly seems that you should do the same.

I was the same way;  felt like I could eat a ton right after surgery.  About 6 weeks out it stopped, and now I can't eat as much.  MajorMom says it may be because the nerve endings in our stomachs are damaged, so we don't feel *full* as much right after... then they heal and we are like whoa!  At least I have been.  I did not throw up once... until I was six weeks out!

This does not mean your DS is broken, promise.

Sorry but being evasive about who your surgeon sounds like an excuse, not a reason.

What are you hiding?

Members here don't have time for that kind of thing- especially the vets.

If youre serious about wanting help, tell us what we want to know, otherwise you'll be ignored.

Wow! I am absolutely shocked at your reply!!  This was my first post about a serious situation and THIS is how you and a few others welcome someone to the board?!

I am not hiding one darn thing!  Now what good would it do me if I were to name my surgeon and turn prospective clients against him if my situation would hopefully work itself out down the road and it wasn't due to anything he had or hadn't done?!  I am NOT wanting to hurt this man!  HOW do you call that hiding?!! I know the size he says he does his patients cc and so on and his name would not help any of you answer my questions. Not knowing his name is NOT leaving the helpers shackled. What a pathetic thing to say!  Nothing would because you aren't wanting to help someone who is new here!

My surgeon and his staff said OH was a good place to go for help and advice, many of you have been very kind and answered with helpful replies, but a few of you are down right mean trying to scare a newbie off!  What kind of sick game are YOU playing?!  I would think the board wouldn't approve of your behavior towards a new DS'er asking for help! I cannot understand your mindset!

I'm almost sorry I even came here and asked a couple of simple and easy to answer questions! I just wanted to know who may have went through what I am. If you haven't been through it then why even bother to comment?  I am just shocked at how some of you are! Unbelievable!!! Thanks for the warm welcome, OH!
