Houston/Austin??

 Did anyone on here have their DS in Houston or Austin? Or know a really good DS surgeon in Houston or Austin? I think my dad is finally ready to have it. His diabetes is out of control, he's on the max insulin and pills, following a tight diet, and it's still not working... and he keeps gaining weight because of the meds. My parents travel for work (hotel construction superintendent) and are in Houston for about three more months... then probably on to Austin. I've looked on OH and DS sites and found names, but am not familiar with them. (I'm a 6-year post-op of Dr. Marchesini in Brazil.... They've talked about going there -- my mom went with me and still raves to this day about Dr. M -- but if insurance will pay for it here, they'll do that instead... IF there's a quality surgeon he can go to!) Any names/advice would be welcome!

I used Felix Spiegel and friends of mine have used Garth Davis, both in Houston.    Both are good cutters so you are in good hands either way.

Best DS doc in Tx is definitely Dr Daryl Stewart. I would not recommend the others from what I have read and  been told.... did you also check on www.dsfacts.com ?  I hear Dr Denton's office is good with insurance as well.

I'm in Austin and went to Dr. Daryl Stewart in Denton. He's a great Dr. and I am so happy with my surgeon choice! I'd recommend him to anyone considering any WLS!
