I just had surgery two weeks ago and while excited I have no idea how to get my bowel movements under control. I have tried pepto, pepcid, gas x and nothin seems to make my stool harden. I have called my dr a few times and he seems to act like its normal. It also doesnt seem to matter what I eat it still is the same. It always happens around 4-7 in the morning and is gassy n watery and horrible and requires 2-3 visits to 2 the bathroom.

I am so frusterated and desperatly need some advice and pointers from people who have experienced this.

Thanks in advance!

First congrats on joing us on the losers bench!!! :)

I now it's not pleasant, but it IS normal.  Everybody goes through it.  Time frame varys. My first "movement" of the day was that same time yours,  everyday between 4 and 7am.
Mine didn't firm up untill I was well into my 2nd month.  Once I started with the full viamin reg.  The Iron really hepled.  :)  You will get better feedback and advice if you post on the board in my siggy.  The vets there are VERY knowledgable and helpful.  I'm 9 months out and I don't know where I'd be if I hadn't found them. Come on over.

The most important thing this early out is to stay hydrated!!  Watch your sugar intake and get as much protein as you feel comfortable with.  30 grams by 30 days.! :)

You are recovering frm a major surgery and expect it to take a few more weeks before things get closer to "normal".  congratulations on your surgery.

Mag Oxide is what most of us use to prevent constipation and to facilitate softer stools.  It can cause diarrhea.

It will take a little more time but once you start taking all your calcium and iron, and eating more normal food, things should firm up. Just stay hydrated because you're losing a lot right now.

Welcome to the DS bench!  As everyone else has said it will get better, the vitamins certainly have a big part to play, that calcium and iron may even send you the other way into constipation so make sure you get your magnesium oxide every day and try to get as much fats into your diet as you can eg. use butter not margarine, use cream in your tea/coffee (decaf) not milk etc.  The fats will also help keep you regular and go a long way to helping your skin stay healthy.

I'm very excited for you, and hope your recovery continues to be perfectly normal.
