Labs question - ALT and AST seem high

I'm 3 months out and I go to my follow-up on the 16th. I got my labs back and they look in the normal range except for ALT(SGPT) is 51 (range says 0-40) and AST(SGOT) says 46.0 (range 0-35). My Vitamin D seems a little low as well - it's 22 (range says 31-150). I will ask my surgeon about it, but I know many vets here offer great advice as well. How bad is this ALT and AST and what would cause it?
Thank you!

Mild elevations in liver enzymes are common during the rapid weight loss period. I wouldn't be too concerned at this point.

Now your D is something else. It is very low. What vitamin regimen are you on? How much and what kind of D3 are you taking?

Thanks for the help!  I knew I could count on the vets!  : )

I am not sure what dry Vitamin D3 is.   I am taking Spring Valley High Potency D3 1000 IU.  I take 2 at night with 2 Tums.  I thought I was supposed to absorb it better when taken with calcium.

Any suggestions on what dose and type to get?

Thanks again!!!

Vitalady's schedule for vites says to take 50,000IUs of D.  That is what most people start with.

Here's a link to Vitalady's plan. Many of us go with this until we start getting labs back and make adjustments. www.gblcreations.com/Resources/Gina/ProgramDRNY_ERNY_BPDDS3- 2010.pdf

High liver enzymes is fairly normal while in the rapid weight loss phase and is supposed to level out. As for me, my ALT AST took over a year to level out and for some reason they are right back up, higher than ever. I just had another round of labs and I'm waiting for the results. If they are still high, I'm to go to a gastroenterologist to follow up on finding out the cause. Good luck with your levels.
