3 1/2 years out and always hungry...is this normal?
Well I am only 1 year in 7 months out and eat aounuts, over the holiday dounuts and slices of cake and I have gained weight like 3 pounds. I know sabatage serious. Because I have 10-20 pounds more to go. It was the holiday so I went completely overboard...anyway, before the holiday, just too much carbs therefore my weight loss has been slow. Its like once you get those carbs in your system, its like a sugar/ carb addiction manger. I am not hungry per se, I just feel like I'm mentally starving. My brain demands to eat. So this week I am detoxing from carbs, and so far, so good. I know its too soon. But my first day, I feel so much better. I woke up and drunk my water first, straigh****er, and then I had two hard boil eggs...and I was just fine, with out snacking. Later I pulled in with a little more carbs, just a little...i mean less than 5 carbs during lunch, and my reaction picked up a little and then I just ate meat and I was fine for dinner. I did not even feel like eating dinner. Later on for a treat I had popcorn, and I was just fine for the rest of the evenning.....I probably over did it with the popcorn, but whatever, today was a good day. So the KEY is extreme protein to get control of those mental addictions.

Hi Derek,
I am four years out and I am honestly always hungry.
I eat at least every 2 hours, i try and eat mostly protein though to avoid gains. Try not to worry about how much you're eating and try and focus on what your eating instead.

Had a band in 2005 at 280lbs, had band removed and DS done on Jan 22nd 08 at 220lbs in Spain, now 135lbs and a size 4!! Happy as a Clam!!Dontcha love the DS? It's the best tool around!!
I am almost 4 years out and I eat something every 2 hours or so. I think that is how "most" people are supposed to eat, though--keeping our energy tanks steadily supplied throughout the day. At least that's what I tell myself.
A decent breakfast, then two hours later, some nuts or snack. Then a decent lunch, then two hours later, another snack. Then a decent dinner, then you guessed it, a snack before bed.
I try to keep the snacks decent, lower-carb, but it's not always easy. If I experience a weight regain, I will have to re-assess.

I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!
HW: 344 lbs CW: 150 lbs
Type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea GONE!
I have days like that, but I've noticed that on busy days, I can go the entire day without eating, too. Just make sure you're not getting too shameless with the carbs, because you're at the time window where it will start to catch up with you.
