Indianapolis DS Group Events in January

Hi All!   2012 looks to be a great year and the DS group is kicking off activities with an awesome dinner this month.

Fogo de Chao is a Brazilian steakhouse which means plenty of PROTEIN!   We will be gong during the Devour Downtown event which means prices are only $30 for a full dinner (a greatly reduced price).    Please post ASAP if you plan to attend because reservations will be needed at the restaurant.    A posting to this thread or an email to jnplacke at gmail.com will also work.    I look forward to celebrating everyone's successes in 2011 and plans for 2012!

The support group meeting, led by a St Vincent nurse or dietitian, is open to all pre- and post-op Duodenal Switch patients regardless if they had surgery at St Vincents.  We often grab a bite to eat after the meeting.

NOTE:  I'm also on facebook and use events to communicate upcoming Indy DS activities.  If you would prefer to receive Indy DS information via facebook, please look me up (Jess Placke) and note in the message of the friend request you are an Indy DSer.

Indianapolis is a possible relo location for my DH at end of year. Is this a very active group? Not many DSers where I am and very limited medical info. I am presently in Canda but originally from PA. I mostly travel back to the states to have anything taken care of. I am grateful for the wonderful GP that I have and worry about who/if I can even find a new GP that understands this surgery.

Hi Dot!
I  would say we are an active group with around 50 people on the mailing list and 8-15 people at the monthly dinners.  Several of us also go to the hospital support group meeting each month with a different group of 8+ people.  

We are lucky in that we have a DS surgeon (Dr. Margaret Inman) in town so her hospital has a decent understanding about the DS (not perfect - don't get me started on the dietitians in her practice).  I'm sure several of us could recommend a GP if you ended up in our area.
