2 year surgiversary Happy New Years my DS family.
ok first, I want to wish everyone a very Good New Year for 2012.
Second, sorry I am a little late but here we go. December 23 2011 marked my 2 year surgiversary. I have lost 200 pounds. I would like to lose maybe 20-25 more but if I don't I am good right here.
I endured 2 angiograms with no stints yet in my 2-year journey one of those just recently 4 months ago that showed some progression but its calcium and genetic not fatty deposits. I no longer have fatty liver disease. B/P is controlled with minimal doses of meds. My labs are good except my PTH is high at 80 so I increased my D3 from 50,000 to 100,000 per day and will get new labs drawn in 3-months. Also Ferritin is 16 Ouch! I upped my carbynol iron and we will see what happens with that.
So many of my problems have resolved. My lower back has issues but so much easier to deal with being 200 pounds less in size. My PCP removed morbid obesity off my chart 2-days ago and I cried cause I couldnt believe it. I still have body dysmorphic issues in thinking I am larger than I really am.
4-months ago I had an emergency severe ventral hernia repair which at that time they found 9 hernias all together to fix. While doing this repair I got a panniculectomy and anchor cut TT. I am so flat and I do mean flat. I have healed beautifully. PS did a great job. Could benefit from LBL and thigh lift, arms could use little nip and tuck and boobies might could look better if lifted a little but all in all I am happy with me finally.
I understand the responsibilties of a DS surgeon and as a DS patient now, I can see why it is not done very frequently. You really have to follow the rules and I don't know a whole lot of ppl that can do this because of laziness. But with that said, when I see an morbidly obese person I want so much for them to have the DS because I believe in it so much and know that their life would be full again.
I ONLY HAVE ISSUES WITH GAS IF I EAT THE WRONG STUFF. At 2-years you pretty much know what to stay away from. I personally don't like to fart it makes my hemrrhiods hurt and my dogs leave the room every time. Heck they don't even wait for the smell lol, they hear it they jump up and leave the room.
I love my life and I am in the process of taking back some of the years waisted. I focus on protein everyday I do drink 2-3 shakes average every single day. I love Champion Stack chocolate protein with peanut butter and heavy cream with water mixed with little bit ice with my bullet, I follow Vitalady routine and I also get all my vits from her and it works pretty well.
I live, I am a full time college student studying to complete PA or NP program following my dreams.
Sorry this was long but I have such a good life know that even I cannot believe it.
Good luck to everyone and all the newbies.
Love Carla

Gail, the DS litterally saved my life, for without it I would be dead. I was dieing when I got it and you are right. I could not see a future but now I can see a long road ahead. I just have to remember to enjoy the journey.

Ha, ha, Carla, you had me rolling on the floor with that one. Isn't it funny how our pets "adjust" to we humans.
Wow, 200lbs! Isn't that great! Congrats. I am so glad to hear that you are doing better after your surgery. Nine frickin' hernias - Golly! How long did it take you to recover from your TT? I am going to have to go that route one of these days. I bet you just love, love, love that flat tummy. Good that your BP med are lessened. Any chance you will be able to loose them completely? I couldn't get my ferritin up with carbonyl iron. Got iron dextran infusions. One of the smartest things I've done. You should try it.
How far along are you with your schooling? I think it's great that you have been able to do your DS and extra surgery and still go to college. Wishing you all the best in 2112!!! Someday I'm going to have to come over and take you out to lunch.

LMAO Jenny girl, I was not kidding about my dogs. I would let on out silently and my bettylou (the beagle hound) jumps up and looks at me mean and leaves lol. It really is funny.
I will always be on B/P meds I have a hereditary heart disease but the DS kept it from killing me. As for the iron. How the freakin low do you have to be to get a iron infusion because they flipped out on me (the hemotologist) when I was in the hosptial and mentioned maybe I should get one. They said its not a good idea because ppl have reactions and this could prevent you from ever getting one. Idk what do you suggest?
As for my TT and hernia repair well it is rough recovery I wont lie but i was doing well at 2 months and kept improving. Now with that said, at 3 months and even now at 4 months, I could sneeze and fall to my knees but yes I am so so very happy with my TT. I will past some picture this week I hope. My computer is being a brat.
I am studying to obtain my NP, I have 4 1/2 years to go. I had to take last semester off I am supposed to start back Jan 6 orientation, Jan 9 class begins. I am having issue with financial aide and I hope I don't have to withdrawl but no worries I have back up plan and will keep going.
