how low can you go?
How low does the ferritn level have to be to convince Hemotologist or PCP that you need iron infusion.
My ferritn is 16, Ouch. I have to laugh cause they don't seem the slightlest concerned.

So many are only used to treating non-WLS patients, our malabsorption issues don't even get through to them even after we tell them. @_@
If you could find one that is WLS savvy, that might be the best bet.

I had a good (so I thought) WLS savy PCP and I just changed to a new PCP because the first one was getting intimidated by my knowledge and she would fight me on stuff like I need my labs drawn every 6 months or more.
I am tanking in the iron area and even when in hospital the hemotologist didn't want to give me a iron infusion. I don't know what the heck to do. I am going to ask Dr. Greenbaum about getting order for iron infusion but even he bulks on this.
I am just perplexed about this but I have to find someone to help me soon.

Ask your PCP to refer you to a hematologist. There should be more than just the one you saw in the hospital. Before doing infusions they tend to look at many factors. They look at your total hemoglobin, hematocrit, your total iron, % saturation, your iron binding capacity, your ferritin and your B12.
